First Trip to the Park

On Monday I had our friend Kasie over with her baby Emily.  Sometimes Sam is okay with having Emily over and other times she hates that there is another baby in the vicinity that is getting any attention and Sam tends to bully Emily.  We decided we would take the girls to the park to get them out of the house since it was such pretty weather outside.  When we got to the park it was PACKED!  I had totally forgotten that it was President's Day and the schools were out...  We made the most out of it anyways and sat on a bench with the babies and let them wiggle around in the sunshine :-)  Even though we wanted to get the girls into the toddler swings, they were full so we loaded them into their strollers and walked the entire length of the "linear park".  Two hours later the babies had gotten in a decent nap and both mommies had some good exercise!  I think we will definitely be doing this more as the weather gets warmer.
Sam loving the outside!

The Table

Sam's Memaw got her a Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Musical Table for Christmas.  Just recently she's gotten big enough and stable enough to play on it and now she's obsessed!  If it's within her view when you put her down to play she beelines it straight there to start her business...and serious business it is.  Sometimes she even thinks she can climb on top of it (thank goodness she can't!).

What to do...

Sam and I have a certain schedule.  Now and then we deviate so that we can run errands or visit her daddy at his office.

7-8am - wake up
8:30-9am - bottle
9:30am - breakfast
10am - nap
12pm - lunch & bottle
3pm - nap
6pm - bottle
9pm - bottle, bath, story and bedtime

We need something to do every once in a while.  What can I take her to do out of the house when she's only 7months old?  The zoo would be pointless (fun for me but not her), the only thing at the park that she could do is the swing.  Any suggestions out there?  Needs to be cheap too!

I'm not a huge fan of going out to places by myself but if I find something that would actually get us out of the house and be fun I might just face that problem of mine and do it.

I've thought of "Mommy Groups" but for some reason, and I'm not sure why at all, I have a fear of committing to one of these.  I also think I have a fear that people will judge me and the way I am raising Samantha.  I know this is crazy and would get me out there to meet other mommies in my area.  One day I will suck it up and do it.  I really need some other mommy friends, STAT!

And just because I feel the need for a cute pic of Sam to be included in this post:

T-R-O-U-B-L-E

Samantha is turning out to be just like her parents.  She LOVES electronics!  If it has buttons, makes sounds or has a monitor/screen...she HAS to have it.

Yesterday she kept pulling herself up to get the Wii, the DVD player, the cable box and the DVDs.  I pulled her away from all of them at least 10 times but it made no difference.  I decided I should take a video for evidence to show her daddy.

In other news...

Everybody always told me that she was SURE to say "dada" before she would ever say "mama".  Well do I have news for all of you!  She says "mama"!  Now, I know for a fact that she doesn't associate that word with me or anything in particular but it sure is nice to hear it :-)

Here goes...

I've gotten a couple of requests to start a journal to record my adventures of first-time mommyhood. I'm starting to think this will be fun so here goes.

First, an introduction:
I am Ashley and my daughter's name is Samantha. She is 7 1/2 months old and knows she runs this roost. My husband and I like to think that we're the bosses around here but she seems to know otherwise. I was never ever the kind of girl that grew up wanting babies. I thought they were loud, stinky and boring. After my husband and I were together for 9 years and married for 3, we had our first baby. I am smitten! She's cute, funny and full of spunk!

I am currently a stay-at-home mom and my husband runs his own business. I was always raised to work to get what I want so being a SAHM can be tough sometimes when I get antsy. To keep entertained when I have downtime I have many hobbies: photography, decorating cakes and making jewelry.

I may be super boring sometimes on this blog, but stick with me because we have some VERY interesting times around here :-)
